Key note 

Anne-Sofie van den Born Rehfeld is a Danish entrepreneur and the founder of The Library Group – a Nordic coworking space and business centre in Brussels. In less than five years, The Library Group has grown from one location to three and currently works on plans for expansion beyond Belgium. She’ll highlight some of the character traits you need to develop to survive life as an entrepreneur.

Round table sessions

  1. Legal incorporation –what are the options, what should you select and on the basis of which criteria?
  2. Registering your company and/or your activity with the Belgian authorities
  3. Banking services for companies
  4. Tax and finance issues for businesses and freelancers

Running Order on the Day

We run our sessions in parallel four times in all. At each table there will be one speaker and 10 -15 places for delegates. You will circulate from table to table so that by the end of the afternoon, you will have covered each of the issues listed above.  In the breaks you will have the opportunity to go back and discuss further with the presenters for whom you have the most questions.


Louise Hilditch – Local Knowledge:

Louise Hilditch, a British national, has been in Brussels for over twenty years. Having started her Belgian career in the European Parliament where she worked for a senior MEP and Committee Chairman, she went on to work for Kraft Foods as a lobbyist before co-founding her own public affairs agency.  Subsequently, she set up and ran ActionAid’s EU office taking on a variety of international leadership roles within the organisation. In 2008 she co-founded Local Knowledge which exists to assist expats to set up and run successful organisations in Belgium.  Louise holds an MSc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics from where she graduated with distinction.

Hugues Thibaut International Affairs Manager & Jinbao Zhang International Social Advisor – Group S

Hugues Thibaut has been EU affairs adviser for 7 years and then HR Manager of a Brussels based International association for 2 years. He graduated in European Law from the University of Louvain (Belgium). He also studied in Uppsala (Sweden) and in Tilburg (The Netherlands) and graduated in Management from the Brussels Business school. He joined Group S in 2011 and founded the International Department.

Jinbao ZHANG was born and grew up in China. After obtaining his Bachelor degree and worked 1 year as a TV journalist in China, he decided to continue his studies in Belgium. Jinbao ZHANG has firstly graduated from BICCS of VUB (China Business Development) before getting his Master degree of HR Management at ULB. He joined Group S in 2012 and work as International Social Advisor.

Dave Deruytter – Head of Expat & Non Resident Banking, ING

Dave is a Civil Engineer (Ghent State University) by training with more than 25 years of banking experience in both wholesale and retail banking. He was head of the BBL Beijing office and also worked in Japan. He is currently head of Expatriate & Non-resident bank and insurance services at ING Belgium and is an extremely active member of the expat community in Brussels.
